Tomorrow morning, bright and early, Josh and I are headed to the grand and glorious city of Toronto!! we are excited to be visiting all of the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and assorted dogs and cats 🙂 i’m just hoping that it does not snow in large amounts (or rain either for that matter) while i’m on the road. travelling with Brian and Josh is one thing, travelling with Josh by myself is quite another.
Happy Valentine's Day
they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. well, as much as we ladies might hate to admit it, i believe the same is true of us! today the UPS man pulled up to my house and delivered what is quite possibly the most wonderful Valentine’s present i’ve ever received… a box full of personalized M&M’s! let the drooling begin… my husband bought me M&M’s that say “I love Krista” and “Daddy <3 Josh” (the present was both for me and the wee man). they are the coolest present!!
hot coffee and fine china
those two items, in the hands of a toddler, should not mix! This morning, my son did something which, in his little heart, had very sweet intentions. he broke the elastics that i had used, rather stupidly, to “childproof” the sideboard cupboard doors… he got out one of my beautiful teacups (Old Country Roses), and went to the kitchen where he climbed up on his little wooden chair, got the FULL coffee carafe, and proceeded to pour me a cup of coffee… and pour, and pour and pour…
the cup was full and overflowing, needless to say! and when i realized what he had done, it just wasn’t in me to punish him. he looked up at me with his sweet little face and said “Babbie, dumdums?” Translated, that means “Mommy, here’s a treat for you!” I kissed his little cheek and got some milk for my coffee, and drank it. He seemed quite satisfied with himself, and i found myself reflecting on my reaction to his little good deed. He was being totally selfless – he found a cup that he thought was pretty and knew that i loved coffee in the morning… i am so thankful that i checked my reaction in time not to yell at him.

update on Brian
a few people have been asking – really there wasn’t much to say until after he saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. he’s healing well, and although he will be wearing his brace for another 6-8 weeks, he can take it off to sleep. it’s not very comfortable to lay down in, so that is a blessing. he’s still pretty sore a lot of the time, but is able to do more with Josh and is generally on the mend. we are really thankful for your continued prayers on his behalf.
