Josh is starting to talk, and he’s so pleased with himself! When i say talk, i guess i should clarify that – he has been talking for quite some time now, but only in Secret Baby Code, which is a language known only to him and a few other toddlers that we know. But now he’s starting to say things that sound like English! Whenever the phone rings or one of us is talking on the phone, he says “huwuh? huwuh!” over and over again – we are certain that this is a precursor to “hello”.
The most recent trick is that he now knows what doggies say – “Wooh! Wooh!” he says this whenever he sees a dog… or a horse… or a cat… oh well! When we ask him “What do doggies say?” he responds with “Wooh! Wooh!” and puckers his mouth up in a really funny way while he says it. I have no idea where he learned this, since we don’t have a dog and neither do any of our friends or neighbours here. The only dog he ever sees up close is a little black and white Scottish terrier that we sometimes see on our walks. So how he figured out that dogs say woof is beyond me!!
