There’s nothing like a little road trip with my son to get rid of the winter blahs! I look forward to our drive to Toronto each February break, and the time alone with Josh. We’re comfortable not talking, we like telling awful jokes, asking deep questions, and listening to dubstep and 8-bit music. Josh also… tolerates… my singer-songwriter playlists! I really enjoy listening to him talk about why he likes that kind of music.
After getting settled in at my parents’ home, we took Friday morning to check out Ripley’s Aquarium. The aquarium has some great exhibits, and has lots of hands on things to do as well as some really interesting dive shows. The shark tank is outstanding – Josh loved seeing the sharks that his uncle Jon recently swam with! We decided that Jon can be the family daredevil, though!
Friday night, Josh got to have a sleepover with his cousin Jared, while I headed to my cousin’s 40th birthday party. So good to see family that I haven’t seen in way too long. Saturday, we got to help surprise my brother for his birthday party at World Bowl, and Josh got to experience a little cosmic bowling before we went home. We headed home to Rochester (with butter tarts on board) on Sunday morning a little earlier than planned, but it was nice to get home a little earlier. While I always enjoy visiting our family, I also always look forward to getting home to Brian.
