One of the things I love to do when I need to buckle down and work on a project at work is to put a sign on the door (I have to be somewhat direct – do not open this door unless the zombie apocalypse has begun), plug my earbuds in, and find something appropriately motivating or relaxing to listen to. My current office is located right under some kind of HVAC unit. It often vibrates like it’s about to take off, so music is a big self-defense mechanism at the moment! Here are a few of my current favorites, including my personal favorite which is my own somewhat eclectic mix of genres:
- La La Land Buzz – I could listen to this all day. I loved, loved, loved the movie, and can’t wait for the digital version to be out on iTunes. When that happens, I’ll just be in the living room in my own little world for awhile.
- just some songs i love – this is my own evolving playlist of current tunes, older tunes, obscure tunes, worship tunes, rock, whatever… just things I enjoy.
- Perfect Concentration – for when I’m trying to figure out a problem or make a spreadsheet do something beautiful but tricky. Something about the mathematics in the music just helps my brain figure out what to do.

And a little bonus – this is the playlist we made a couple of weeks ago on our stay-at-home date night – Brian & Krista’s Fabulous 1998 Playlist. If you feel like you’re lacking some late 90’s music, have at it!
