Suddenly, we looked outside and the sun was shining, and when we ventured out, it was WARM! Today, in fact, my car said it was 98F when I turned it on after work. That means it was probably actually about 94-96F, but still. OH the warmth. I’ll be soaking up as much sunlight as I safely can to re-stock my vitamin D supplies, while trying to not turn the color of a cooked lobster.
So, we find ourselves at the end of June. It’s Josh’s last week of seventh grade. I find myself wondering how he is even in seventh grade, much less how he is about to become an eighth grader! As I write this, he has one day left of classes, and then 3 exam days. He’ll finish with Latin – it was his language choice, and it’s been a tough challenge for him. We are very proud of how hard he has worked this year. Definitely looking forward to our traditional last-day-of-school Lugia’s ice cream cones!!
On the same day as Josh’s last exam, Brian is flying to Myanmar for two weeks. He will be part of a three man team from CrossTalk Global teaching a group of pastors and church leaders in Yangon. This is his second year doing this trip, and the investment for our family in terms of time and resources is absolutely worthwhile. If you would like to pray for him, please pray for:
- stamina (jet lag, extremely hot and humid weather)
- good communication (the guys will preach and teach through interpreters)
- safety in traveling
- the students who are coming to spend a pretty intense two weeks being equipped to communicate God’s word
- whatever else the Lord leads you to pray for!
Although two weeks seems like an awfully long time to be apart, and the 10.5 hour time difference makes communication a challenge at times, I’m thankful for wifi and Whatsapp, and also for the extra time I have with Josh during these weeks.
When Brian gets home, we’ll be celebrating our anniversary. I’m not sure how it’s possible that we’ve been married for 18 years, (I mean, I’m only 21) but apparently that is the case!
And as for me, I’m happy to be part of a few great projects at work, and I’m continually thankful for my RN counterpart, Patti. She is a fount of knowledge and a blessing in my work life. My love of data, specifically medical data, is growing and I’m thankful to be where I am, while looking to the future as well.
There’s also plenty going on at Trinity. Our church is planning a VBS program for the first time in a long time, and I am so excited to see how things go – the leaders who are involved are doing an awesome job! I am praying that kids from our immediate community will come to be part of this program so that we can love on them and show them Jesus. As a church, we are praying about how we can reach into our community to love our neighbors right here in Gates. I think this is such a great way to do that!
So, our summer is off to a great start with lots of family fun and some more travels in store for the rest of the season. Can’t wait to see what each week holds!
