This week is National Infertility Awareness Week. did you know that? chances are that you know someone who is dealing with infertility right now – why not take the time to write them an encouraging note, send a sweet email or give them a call to let them know you’re thinking about them. because, quite frankly, infertility sucks. if you’re currently in that boat, or ever have been in the past, you know exactly what i mean. it’s really the most horrible feeling in the world and it seems to invade every part of your life.
don’t get me wrong – i’m thankful for the child i have, Josh is a gift from God. but after having a consult with a local fertility specialist, we recently had to make some hard choices about our desire to have another child – and in the end, the desire to stay financially solvent and make a wise choice for our existing family won out. i feel like God is giving me peace about this, and even more than that, the ability to be content with where i am right now. there have been a lot of tears, and there probably will be more in the months to come, but i’m okay with this.
all that to say this: dealing with the fact that your body just won’t do something it was designed to do is very difficult. you need all of the prayers, love, support, kindness and understanding that your friends can offer, so if you’re reading this and you are in the position to offer those things to someone in this situation, DO IT!

Hey Krista,
I saw your comment over at Simple Mom and I think it’s such a good thing that you are bringing attention to this issue. I think people have the tendency to avoid speaking about things that are uncomfortable, and sometimes all people really need is a big old hug and some words of encouragement. I have not personally dealt with infertility and my heart goes out to you – you deserve some encouraging words for making the decision that was right for you and your family!
Krista
thanks to all of you for leaving such kind comments. i guess that post ended up being a tad bit self-serving!! but i hope that it was a reminder that people going through things like this need a little bit of extra tlc from time to time 🙂 thanks again!
